Christmas Markets in Dublin 2013 In an earlier blog post we talked about the fabulous Dublin Docklands Christmas Market which takes place from December 12 to 23 where there’ll be loads of craft stalls and yummy Christmas delicacies from around the globe, together with Victorian fairground rides for the kids (or adults who never grew up) and plenty of good music being belted out at the airstream bar. However, we also want to mention the fabulous happenings afoot in terms of Christmas Markets in Dublin this December. Take for example these fab four: • Christ Church Cathedral. Really get into the traditional feel of Christmas at this atmospheric medieval market held inside the historic walls of the Cathedral – the 12th century crypt to be exact. For the third year in a row you’ll find plenty of crafts and Irish handmade goods which are perfect for seasonal gifts. There’s also food and drink in which to indulge and don’t forget Santa’s Grotto for the kids. The market is open every Saturday in December (ie 1, 8, 15 and 22) from 11am to 5pm. • Christmas Cracker Flea Market. Check out some of the cream of Dublin’s independent trading scene. Back for the third year in a row you’ll find more than 100 stalls featuring a variety of recycled and second hand goods covering areas as diverse as vintage clothing, furniture and music. Open from December 13 to 15, the market is based at Smithfield and well worth a rummage through. • Farmleigh House. From December 7 to 22 there’ll be an extravaganza of Christmas events at this gorgeous and grand stately home on the city’s White Road. Attractions include food markets, carol singing, children’s story telling, a festive crib and puppet show. • Dame District Christmas Market. Last year was the second time this area – which sits right in the heart of the city - ventured into the Christmas market arena. Handmade jewellery, toys and crafts mixed with food, music, a vintage carousel, face painting and comedy acts – proving a great day out for all the family. Why not bring the family to Dublin for the fun up to Christmas? Get all your Christmas gifts while having a great day at the same time. Looking for some place to stay?
