It’s never too early to start planning something as important as a wedding and January is the best time for making sure your schedule for the year ahead is running smoothly and on budget. That’s why, cleverly, Ireland’s biggest annual wedding fayre has been organised for the last weekend during the first month of the year - Saturday 25 and Sunday 26, January at the RDS Main Hall from 11.30 to 5.30pm. More than 250 gown sellers, patisserie makers, event planners, florists, hairdressers, honeymoon organisers, caterers, venue representatives and lingerie outfitters will be showing off the trendiest and most sought-after wedding items, accessories and locations in the whole country at Ireland’s popular Bride of the Year Show. There will also be plenty of free previews to the extent that no bride can afford to miss this show we’ve been reliably informed here at the Sandymount Hotel.
And, of course, as many of you are already aware, we provide special tailored wedding packages at the hotel ourselves for bridal couples and their guests - and where we can definitely vouch for our romantic Victorian manor house setting, as well as our highly-rated cuisine. Discounts and special offers on the day Brides and the all-important mother of the bride can bag themselves a free cosmetics make-over at the Bride of the Year Show while there will be hundreds of other discounts and special packages there just for the taking (many of which are still to be announced on the show’s website so it’s worth checking regularly).
For instance, one lucky mother of the bride - chosen during the Catwalk Show - will receive not only a free make-over from a professional make-up artist, but also a hairdo from one of Dublin’s top salons.
And you thought it was all about the bride?! Catwalk Shows As well as hundreds of exhibition stalls for the bride to be and family to browse round, fashionistas will love the professionally choreographed and modelled Catwalk Shows with the opportunity to see some of the most glamorous bridal wear this season (including evening gowns and going away outfits) waft past their very eyes. These start at 1pm and 4pm on both afternoons and MC for the event will be popular Today FM DJ Philip Cawley. There may also be the odd glass of bubbly available to make the shows even more sparkling and glamorous.
And talking of which, apparently the mezzanine level is to play host to a champagne fountain while there’s be lots of handmade chocolates temptingly in the vicinity. Men won’t miss out Although predominantly bridal shows tend to focus on the bride and her mother, there’s plenty of fashion advice for the groom too in Dublin in 2014 with the latest designs from London and New York to drool over. One ‘lucky’ groom in the audience will actually be chosen by Philip to model on-stage an outfit from the designer Aston Formalwear collection.
