Ballsbridge is in one of Dublin’s most prestigious post codes, Dublin 4, and is home to many of Dublin’s embassies and diplomatic residences. It also features the 32-acre Herbert Park.
It's not difficult to see why the rich and powerful come to Ballsbridge. Originally developed in Victorian times, the streets are wide and tree lined and houses are set back in vast private grounds. Of all Dublin areas, Ballsbridge has the most 'private' feel. Yet, despite the space and tranquility, Ballsbridge is only minutes away from the city centre.
Nowhere else in Dublin will you find such a concentration of rugby clubs either. Wanderers Rugby Club was founded in 1870 by an ex-Dublin University player. Today, Ballsbridge and nearby Donnybrook are home to half a dozen active rugby clubs. Apart from the Wanderers you'll find Old Belvedere, Lansdowne, Old Wesley, Leinster Rugby Club and the Bective Rangers. The world famous AVIVA Stadium is also in Ballsbridge and hosts international matches throughout the year.
The RDS (Royal Dublin Society) in Ballsbridge is one of the city’s largest conference and exhibition centres, and is just a short walk from Sandymount Hotel.
As well as the many exhibitions, conventions, concerts and shows held at the RDS, the RDS is home to events like the world famous Dublin International Horse Show, Christmas on Ice and Holiday World.
