Autumn Breaks

Autumn Breaks

Dublin at its most relaxed

The crowds have gone home. The city slows down. And the best of Dublin is yours to enjoy at your own pace.

Autumn is our favourite time of year in Dublin. The summer rush has eased, the light turns golden, and the city settles into something calmer and more characterful. We can’t promise clear skies, but we can promise a memorable autumn escape, whatever the weather, and a warm welcome home at the end of every day.

On the doorstep

Start with a brisk stroll through Sandymount Village, where a fresh coffee and a seasonal treat from a local café set you up for the day. From there it is a short walk to the windswept beauty of Sandymount Strand, all sea air and the changing colours of the season. Or wander five minutes to the DART and take the scenic coastal line to Howth, Malahide or Clontarf, each one full of character and made for crisp autumn walks and hearty meals by the sea.

The city, two stops away

The DART brings you into the heart of Dublin in minutes. Spend an afternoon on Grafton Street or lose an hour in Brown Thomas and its autumn collections. Catch a world-class performance at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, or settle into a traditional pub for live music, a bowl of Irish stew and a pint by the fire. For rugby fans, November brings the Nations Championship to the Aviva Stadium, just around the corner from the hotel, with Ireland taking on Argentina, Fiji and South Africa across three unmissable weekends.

Room to wander

On dry days, pick up a Dublin Bike and discover the city’s landmarks and quieter corners at your own pace. And when the air turns cool and crisp, few things beat a wander through Herbert Park or the Iveagh Gardens, with the trees painted in rich autumn colour.

A warm welcome home

Back in Ballsbridge, ease into the evening with a hot whiskey or a spiced cider at the Line Out Bar. As the evenings draw in, this is the season for cosy corners, good food and the kind of welcome that only a family-run hotel gives. Nothing is ever too much trouble. It is a real Dublin autumn, at its most relaxed, and there is no better place to enjoy it.
