Dublin City Breaks

Dublin City Breaks

Dublin is famous all over the world for its rich culture, its unique character and for always “having the craic”. Far from being a vast and overwhelming city, Ireland’s capital is easy to navigate, perfectly suited to short breaks, and surrounded by stunning countryside and quaint seaside towns.

The Sandymount Hotel in the leafy suburb of Ballsbridge is perfectly located to give our guests the best of all that this Fair City has to offer. Experience warm and welcoming 4-star hotel luxury near Dublin city centre (just two stops on the DART), a short stroll from the seaside village and strand of Sandymount, and the closest hotel you can get to the Aviva Stadium and all its sporting action.

The DART stop virtually on our doorstep also makes it super easy for our guests to take a day trip or two along the Dublin coast to the picturesque places of Howth, Malahide, Dun Laoghaire and Bray.

Things to see & do in Dublin city centre

There are of course some key tourist attractions that are always on a first-time Dublin visitor’s to-do list. The Guiness Storehouse, Trinity College and the Book of Kells, Kilmainham Gaol, Pheonix Park and Dublin Zoo are all within easy reach of the hotel via public transport and the city’s famous Hop On Hop Off Bus Tours.

Ignite your love of books in this UNESCO City of Literature and walk the same streets that have been inspiring some of the world’s best novelists for centuries, from James Joyce and Daphne du Maurier to Sally Rooney. For further cultural experiences, enjoy free access into the National Gallery of Ireland which houses works by Picasso, Monet and renowned Irish artist Jack B Yeats, and be sure to stop by The Little Museum of Dublin and wonderful EPIC Irish Emigration Museum.

When the sun is shining there are few better places to be than lying in the shade of a tree in the emerald wonderlands of Dublin’s great parks: St Stephen’s Green, Herbert Park, Iveagh Gardens, Phoenix Park, or the National Botanic Gardens.

Any Dublin city break deserves a soundtrack of traditional Irish music (or ‘trad music’ as we locals call it) and The Sandymount Hotel has a wealth of pubs on its doorstep in Ballsbridge that host live bands. Alternatively, our knowledgeable team is more than happy to help you map out your own personal pub crawl through the city centre (helping you to steer clear of the tourist traps that hike up the drinks prices!)

Add to all of this exceptional food, sensational shopping and Dublin’s legendary hospitality and sure you’ll be booking that return trip in no time.
