Irish Rugby 

Ireland plays host to many games and Dublin’s Aviva Stadium will welcome many International teams such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada, France and England.

It is an extremely popular sport in Ireland after of course hurling and Gaelic football.

There is one National team, governing body (IRFU) and league for both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

The IRFU is located on Lansdowne road, only a short walk from the Sandymount Hotel and the Aviva Stadium which can be seen from outside the hotel is the main playing grounds for match days.

Saturday, 5 November 2022 - Ireland vs South Africa - 5:30pm  at Aviva Stadium (IRFU) 

Saturday, 12 November 2022 - Ireland vs FIJI - 1pm at Aviva Stadium (IRFU)

Saturday, 19 November 2022-  Ireland vs Australia - 8pm at Aviva Stadium  (IRFU)

Satuday, 11 February 2023 - Ireland vs France- 2:15pm at Aviva Stadium (IRFU) 

Satuday, 18 march 2023 - Ireland vs England - 5pm at Aviva Stadium (IRFU)

Ireland’s National team has won the Six Nations Grand Slam three times. The team has yet to win the World Cup but here at the Sandymount Hotel we have the greatest amount of hope that they will some day!

Saturday, 11 February 2023 - Ireland vs France at Aviva Stadium

Saturday, 18 March 2023  - Ireland vs England at Aviva Stadium 

International matches are played in Aviva Stadium and provincial matches in Dublin are played in the RDS, which is located in Ballsbridge just a 10 minute walk from the Sandymount Hotel.
